Welcome to Lifeguarding Certification

First and foremost, we would like to thank you for your enrollment for your American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification with Spindlebeak. Together, you will help to elevate aquatics safety in the region and create access for all.

You will find a few items in our Welcome Packet which will help to prepare you for the first day!

  • Welcome Letter – this will give you the basic information about this class like what to expect on the first day of the course and what to bring with you to class.  It will also give you a glimpse into the prerequisite swim tests.
  • Spindlebeak Waiver and Photo Release – please print, and sign this document if you are 18 or older.  If you are under 18, have a parent or guardian read this and sign.  Please bring this with you on the first day of class and hand it in to your instructor.  It is required prior to participating in class.
  • Red Cross Health and Safety Guidelines - since we will be practicing skills that involve other students, there steps that we take to keep you healthy and safe throughout the course.  Please check out this information from the Red Cross to fully prepare you for class.
Please pay particular attention to the details of the prerequisite in-water testing.  A strong swimming ability and comfort level in the water is the foundation for performing a majority of the rescue skills presented in the course.   Students must be able to pass all prerequisite testing prior to continuing in the course.  If the student is unable to complete the water skills at the start of the course, their enrollment may be able to transfer to a later class, assuming that there are open spaces available.  This will give the student time to work on their swimming skills to be able to pass the course.  In the event that a later date is not suitable for either the student or Spindlebeak, a partial refund will be issued.

Spindlebeak will also be issuing a lifeguard manual for each participant on loan to be returned at the end of the class.  You can also download a free copy from the American Red Cross.  You may use this to begin reviewing early or to use as a reference after the course. CLICK THE BELOW PDF DOCUMENT to download the Lifeguarding Manual from the American Red Cross. Or you may purchase a hard copy here

Good Luck and we look forward to seeing you!
